Version 2026.149.1210
Repo superproject

Desktop media codecs, thumbnailers, and the ALSA<->PipeWire bridge for a KDE workstation Installs the GStreamer plugin set (libav/bad/ugly/va/pipewire) so Plasma, Phonon and Haruna play every codec, plus the VLC plugins, DVD CSS, thumbnailer support libs (libgsf/libopenraw/poppler-glib), and the ALSA<->PipeWire bridge with pavucontrol. Mirrors the CachyOS netinstall “desktop integration” + “audio” subgroups (host-firmware entries like alsa-firmware/sof-firmware are excluded — the VM has no physical audio hardware, its streamed/null sinks come from PipeWire). Every package lands a known binary, an unsonamed plugin .so, or a config drop-in, so each scenario below is a deterministic file/package check.

This candy’s plan: — the runnable spec charly check executes against a live deployment. check: steps are idempotent probes; run: steps change state.

Intent Step
check the GStreamer libav codec bridge is installed for Plasma/Phonon/Haruna playback
check the libav GStreamer plugin shared object is present on disk
check the VA-API hardware-decode GStreamer plugin is present
check the ALSA->PipeWire bridge package is installed so ALSA clients route through PipeWire
check the PipeWire default-PCM ALSA config drop-in is installed
check the pavucontrol mixer UI binary is installed
check the ffmpeg thumbnailer binary is present for video-file previews
check the libdvdcss DVD decryption library is installed
check the poppler-glib PDF library that backs document thumbnails is installed
check package=vlc-plugins-all
check file=/usr/bin/aplay
