NVIDIA GPU runtime — nvidia-container-toolkit (nvidia-ctk CDI) plus the driver-lib path and Vulkan ICD wiring Installs nvidia-container-toolkit (the nvidia-ctk CLI that generates CDI device specs) alongside the per-distro driver libs (nvidia-utils on Arch, libva-nvidia-driver on Fedora). Exports LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib64 so the GPU driver libraries resolve, and prepares /etc/vulkan/icd.d to hold the nvidia Vulkan ICD symlinks. Every effect — the package, the nvidia-ctk binary, the exported path, and the ICD directory — is a real artifact baked into the image, so each is directly verifiable without a physical GPU.

Installed on every distro:

  • nvidia-container-toolkit

This candy’s plan: — the runnable spec charly check executes against a live deployment. check: steps are idempotent probes; run: steps change state.

Intent Step
run mkdir=/etc/vulkan/icd.d
run command=[ -f /usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/nvidia_icd.x86_64.json ] && \ ln -sf /usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/nvidia_icd.x86_64.json /etc/vulkan/icd.d/nvidia_icd.json || true [ -f /usr/share/vulkan/implicit_layer.d/nvidia_layers.json ] && \ ln -sf /usr/share/vulkan/implicit_layer.d/nvidia_layers.json /etc/vulkan/icd.d/nvidia_layers.json || true
check the nvidia-container-toolkit repo enforces package signature verification, so its packages cannot install unverified
check the nvidia-container-toolkit package is installed for CDI device generation
check the nvidia-ctk CLI binary lands on the canonical /usr/bin path
check nvidia-ctk runs and reports a version number
check the Vulkan ICD directory exists to hold the nvidia ICD symlinks
check the nvidia userspace for THIS distro is present, either the Arch driver libs from nvidia-utils or the Fedora VA-API driver from libva-nvidia-driver
